Here's the gist: your body relies partly on an enzyme called CYP2C19 to clear rabeprazole (Aciphex) from your system. In test-tube studies, resveratrol can slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let a bit more rabeprazole linger in your blood, which might mean slightly stronger effects or a touch more chance of side effects like headache, nausea, or diarrhea.

The important part: this has only been seen in lab dishes, never reported in real people, so it's a theoretical concern. Rabeprazole is also a pretty forgiving medication, not a narrow-margin drug, so a small bump is unlikely to cause trouble. Food amounts of grapes or berries certainly won't matter. Still, if you plan to take a concentrated resveratrol supplement, just give your pharmacist or doctor a quick heads-up first.

Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, clinical research shows that taking resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks does not necessitate dose adjustments to medications metabolized by CYP3A4.

Here's the gist for rabeprazole (Aciphex): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 as one way to clear this acid-reducing medicine. In test-tube studies, resveratrol can slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in your body, rabeprazole could linger a little longer, which in theory might mean slightly more of its usual mild effects like headache, nausea, or diarrhea.

The reassuring part: this concern comes from lab work, not from real people. In actual human studies, even high doses of resveratrol (3000 mg a day for 8 weeks) did not call for changes to drugs cleared this way. So for most folks this is a low worry. Still, it's always smart to mention any supplement to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.

About Rabeprazole

What Is Rabeprazole Used For?

Brand names: Aciphex, Aciphex Sprinkle

Rabeprazole delayed-release tablets treat a range of acid-related conditions in adults, including healing and maintenance of erosive or ulcerative GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), symptomatic GERD, duodenal ulcers, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. They are also used alongside antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin) to eradicate H. pylori bacteria and reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer coming back.

In adolescents 12 years and older, rabeprazole delayed-release tablets are approved for short-term treatment of symptomatic GERD. Both AcipHex and Rabeprazole Sodium delayed-release tablets share this indication set for adults and adolescents 12 and older.
