Sesame + Minoxidil
Minoxidil brand names: Loniten, Rogaine, Minoxidil.
Sesame has a moderate interaction with Minoxidil. Taking sesame oil with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Minoxidil
Minoxidil falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Sesame interacts with.
Clinical research shows that replacing other cooking oil with sesame oil can lower systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in patients with or without hypertension. There is also some evidence that sesame oil has additive effects in patients also taking atenolol, nifedipine, and/or hydrochlorothiazide. In patients using nifedipine, using a blend of sesame oil and rice bran oil for cooking reduces both SBP and DBP more than nifedipine alone.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: minoxidil (Loniten) already works hard to lower your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. Sesame oil, when used regularly in place of other cooking oils, seems to nudge blood pressure down a little on its own. Put the two together and the effect can add up, so your pressure could drop more than expected.
If that happens, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, tired, or notice your heart racing, especially when standing up quickly. I'll be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on how sesame behaves, not a strong proven danger. A little sesame in your meals is unlikely to be a problem. If you're using sesame oil heavily every day or taking concentrated sesame supplements, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your numbers. Please don't change anything on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Minoxidil page
“American hellebore heads the concerns for anyone taking minoxidil (Loniten, Rogaine), because even small amounts of its alkaloids lower blood pressure on their own, a dangerous match with one of the most potent pressure-lowering drugs prescribed. It is one of four major-rated entries among the 139 supplements and herbs on record, and t…”

About Sesame
What is Sesame?
- Heart and cholesterol health
- Blood pressure support
- Source of healthy fats and minerals
- Skin and hair care (topical oil)
- Antioxidant support
- Cooking and nutrition
Sesame is a nutritious seed and oil widely used in cooking and traditional medicine, and it provides healthy fats, fiber, and antioxidant compounds called lignans. Some early research suggests sesame may modestly help with cholesterol and blood pressure, but the evidence is limited. Sesame is also a common, sometimes serious, food allergen, so people with seed allergies should be careful.
About Minoxidil
What Is Minoxidil Used For?
Brand names: Loniten, Rogaine, Minoxidil
Minoxidil tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) — specifically in patients who haven't responded well to other blood pressure medications. They are a powerful option reserved for difficult-to-control cases.
Topical minoxidil products — including solutions, sprays, gels, and foams from many brands — are used to regrow hair on the top of the scalp (called the vertex). Products labeled for men and for women may differ; for example, Bosley MD Regular Strength for Women and Dizop Minoxidil Topical Gel are each labeled for their specific intended users.

Minoxidil Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Minoxidil as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Sesame — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
