Sesame + Glucagon
Glucagon brand names: Glucagon, Baqsimi.
Sesame has a moderate interaction with Glucagon. Taking sesame oil with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Glucagon
Glucagon falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Sesame interacts with.
Clinical studies show that sesame oil can decrease plasma glucose and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels. Some clinical research in patients taking glibenclamide shows that using sesame oil or a blend of sesame oil and rice bran oil in place of other oil for cooking reduces plasma glucose more than glibenclamide alone. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's a little wrinkle worth knowing about. The interaction on file says sesame oil may lower blood sugar a bit on its own, so the concern is that it could add to the sugar-lowering effect of diabetes medicines. But glucagon is the opposite kind of drug. It's your rescue product (the nasal Baqsimi or an injection) that you use to raise blood sugar fast during a severe low. It works by telling your liver to dump out stored sugar.
So sesame won't really fight against glucagon in an emergency, and this is only a theoretical idea based on pharmacology, not strong proof. Eating sesame in normal food amounts is very unlikely to matter. If you're using concentrated sesame oil daily for blood sugar, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your numbers.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Glucagon page
“If you keep glucagon (Baqsimi) on hand to rescue a severe low blood sugar, read this list with genuine care. Of the 256 supplements and herbs on file, 239 affect blood sugar control, most by lowering glucose further, which can set up the very crash glucagon exists to reverse.”

About Sesame
What is Sesame?
- Heart and cholesterol health
- Blood pressure support
- Source of healthy fats and minerals
- Skin and hair care (topical oil)
- Antioxidant support
- Cooking and nutrition
Sesame is a nutritious seed and oil widely used in cooking and traditional medicine, and it provides healthy fats, fiber, and antioxidant compounds called lignans. Some early research suggests sesame may modestly help with cholesterol and blood pressure, but the evidence is limited. Sesame is also a common, sometimes serious, food allergen, so people with seed allergies should be careful.

Glucagon Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Glucagon as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Sesame — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
