High intake of dietary sodium can increase systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Also, high intake of sodium may necessitate increased use of antihypertensive medications to achieve blood pressure control in some patients, such as those with chronic kidney disease.

Entresto (sacubitril and valsartan) works hard to relax your blood vessels and help your body shed extra fluid so your heart doesn't have to strain. The catch with sodium is simple: too much of it pulls water into your bloodstream, raises your blood volume, and pushes your blood pressure up. That tends to work against exactly what Entresto is trying to do, so a high-salt intake can blunt how well the medicine controls your blood pressure and fluid balance.

This isn't a dangerous chemical clash, and normal seasoning in food is usually fine. The bigger concern is regularly eating very salty foods or taking sodium supplements without a reason. If you have heart failure or kidney issues, this matters more. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding any sodium.

What Is Valsartan and Sacubitril Used For?

Brand name: Entresto

Sacubitril and valsartan is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization for heart failure in adult patients with chronic heart failure. The benefit is most clearly seen in patients whose heart pumps with a lower-than-normal ejection fraction (the percentage of blood the heart pushes out with each beat).

It is also approved to treat symptomatic heart failure with reduced left ventricular function in children aged 1 year and older. In pediatric patients, it lowers a blood marker of heart stress (NT-proBNP) and is expected to improve heart outcomes.
