Mestranol, Norethindrone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Sulforaphane interacts with.

Theoretically, sulforaphane might increase the levels and effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Animal and in vitro research shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme activity and downregulates its expression. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

This combination pairs sulforaphane (the broccoli-derived compound) with your birth control pill, which contains mestranol and norethindrone. Both of those hormones are partly cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In test-tube and animal studies, sulforaphane has been shown to slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let a bit more hormone linger in your body, which might mean slightly more of the usual pill side effects like nausea, breast tenderness, headaches, or spotting.

Here's the reassuring part: this has only been seen in lab and animal research, never reported in actual people, so it's quite theoretical. Eating broccoli and other veggies is not a concern. A concentrated sulforaphane supplement is a different story, so just run it by your pharmacist or doctor before starting one.
