Why this applies to Temazepam

Temazepam falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Sulforaphane interacts with.

Theoretically, sulforaphane might increase the levels and effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Animal and in vitro research shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme activity and downregulates its expression. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for your sleep aid: temazepam is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab and animal studies, sulforaphane appears to slow that enzyme down. If that happened in people, temazepam could clear a bit more slowly and build up, which might make its effects stronger, think extra grogginess, next-morning drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling unsteady on your feet.

The big caveat is that this is only theoretical. It hasn't actually been shown in humans, and eating broccoli or other cruciferous veggies at meals is very unlikely to cause a problem. A concentrated sulforaphane supplement is a different story. If you're considering one alongside temazepam, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Temazepam capsules — sold as Restoril and under the generic name Temazepam — are indicated for the short-term treatment of insomnia, generally 7 to 10 days. They help people fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.

This medication is intended for short periods only. If sleep trouble doesn't improve within 7 to 10 days, that may signal an underlying medical or psychiatric condition that needs its own evaluation.
