Why this applies to Aspirin, Hydrocodone

Aspirin, Hydrocodone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Sweet Annie interacts with.

Sweet Annie may alter plasma levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that the Sweet Annie constituent artemisinin induces CYP3A4, possibly increasing CYP3A4 activity by 1.9-fold. However, Sweet Annie extract seems to inhibit the activity of CYP3A4 in vitro, suggesting that other constituents of Sweet Annie play a role in its effects on the overall activity of this enzyme. More information is needed to determine whether taking Sweet Annie extract affects the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.

The hydrocodone in your Lortab ASA gets processed in part by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Sweet Annie (Artemisia annua) might nudge this enzyme, but here's the honest catch: the lab studies pull in opposite directions. One compound in the herb (artemisinin) seems to speed the enzyme up, while the whole-plant extract appears to slow it down. So nobody can say for sure which way it lands in a real person.

If it speeds things up, your hydrocodone could clear faster and give you less pain relief. If it slows things down, you could see more drowsiness, dizziness, or constipation. This is only test-tube evidence, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but it's worth running past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
