Fostamatinib falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Thuja interacts with.

Thuja might stimulate immune function. Theoretically, taking thuja might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), and other corticosteroids (glucocorticoids).

Here's the thinking behind this one. Thuja is believed, mostly from lab work, to gently rev up the immune system. Fostamatinib (Tavalisse) works in the opposite direction for immune thrombocytopenia. It calms the part of your immune system that's wrongly attacking your platelets, which helps your platelet count climb back up. So in theory, an immune-stimulating supplement like thuja could tug against what the medicine is trying to do.

If that happened, you might see Fostamatinib working less well, meaning your platelets could stay low and you'd be more prone to easy bruising or bleeding. I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on how each one behaves, not something proven in people taking them together. Still, given how important your platelet count is, I'd skip the thuja and check with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Thuja, also called northern white cedar or arborvitae, is a tree whose leaf and oil have a long history in folk and homeopathic medicine, especially for warts and immune support. Solid human evidence for these uses is very limited, and the undiluted oil contains thujone, which can be toxic. What Is Fostamatinib Used For?

Brand name: Tavalisse

Tavalisse (fostamatinib) is used to treat thrombocytopenia — dangerously low platelet counts — in adults with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). It is specifically for people whose platelet counts have not improved enough with at least one earlier ITP treatment.

The goal is to raise platelet counts high enough to reduce the risk of serious bleeding. If platelet counts do not respond sufficiently after 12 weeks, the medication is typically stopped.
