SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS
Why this applies to Morphine Sulfate
Morphine Sulfate falls under SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS — the group Thuja interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with pairing Thuja and Morphine Sulfate. Concentrated thuja products can contain thujone, a compound that can irritate the nervous system and, in high amounts, may lower the threshold for seizures. Morphine, like other narcotic pain relievers, can also nudge that seizure threshold down, especially at higher doses. The worry is that stacking the two could make a seizure a little more likely in someone who is already prone to them.
Honestly, this is a theoretical caution based mostly on anecdotal reports, not strong human studies. Still, since the undiluted oil can be genuinely toxic, I'd play it safe and steer clear of thuja supplements while you're on morphine. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before adding anything new.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Morphine Sulfate page
“With morphine sulfate (MS Contin, Kadian, Avinza), an opioid powerful enough to slow breathing on its own, this list warrants genuine respect. Of the 172 supplements and foods on file, 8 carry a major rating, and most of those pile extra sedation onto a drug that already sedates.”

About Thuja
What is Thuja?
- Warts and skin growths
- Respiratory and immune support
- Cold and upper respiratory symptoms
- Topical skin conditions
- Traditional use as a diuretic or to bring on menstruation
Thuja, also called northern white cedar or arborvitae, is a tree whose leaf and oil have a long history in folk and homeopathic medicine, especially for warts and immune support. Solid human evidence for these uses is very limited, and the undiluted oil contains thujone, which can be toxic. Talk with a pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
About Morphine
What Is Morphine Used For?
Brand names: MS Contin, Kadian, Avinza, Morphabond, Arymo ER
Morphine is used to manage acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) pain that is severe enough to need an opioid and that hasn't been adequately treated by other options. The higher-concentration liquid form is reserved for adults who are already opioid-tolerant — meaning their body is used to opioid medications.
Because of real risks of addiction, misuse, and overdose, morphine is only prescribed when other pain treatments have not worked or are not expected to work. It is not intended for long-term use unless the pain continues to be severe and no alternatives are suitable.
