Aripiprazole falls under SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS — the group Thuja interacts with.

Thuja products can contains significant amounts of thujone, a neurotoxin. Theoretically, patients taking drugs that lower the seizure threshold might be at greater risk of seizure if they also take thuja. Advise patients taking these drugs to avoid thuja products. Some drugs that lower the seizure threshold include anesthetics (propofol, others), antiarrhythmics (mexiletine), antibiotics (amphotericin, penicillin, cephalosporins, imipenem), antidepressants (bupropion, others), antihistamines (cyproheptadine, others), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), narcotics (fentanyl, others), stimulants (methylphenidate), theophylline, and others.

Here's the concern with pairing Thuja and aripiprazole (Abilify). Concentrated thuja products can contain thujone, a compound that may make the brain a little more prone to seizures. Aripiprazole, like many medicines that act on the brain, can itself slightly lower the seizure threshold. Put them together and, in theory, that small risk could add up.

I want to be honest about how solid this is: it's based on anecdotal reports and the known chemistry of thujone, not on strong human studies, so for most people the actual risk is low. Still, a seizure is serious enough that I'd rather you skip concentrated thuja oil or supplements here. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.
