Aripiprazole Lauroxil falls under SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS — the group Thuja interacts with.

Thuja products can contains significant amounts of thujone, a neurotoxin. Theoretically, patients taking drugs that lower the seizure threshold might be at greater risk of seizure if they also take thuja. Advise patients taking these drugs to avoid thuja products. Some drugs that lower the seizure threshold include anesthetics (propofol, others), antiarrhythmics (mexiletine), antibiotics (amphotericin, penicillin, cephalosporins, imipenem), antidepressants (bupropion, others), antihistamines (cyproheptadine, others), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), narcotics (fentanyl, others), stimulants (methylphenidate), theophylline, and others.

Here's the concern with combining Thuja and your Aristada injection. Thuja products, especially the oil, can contain thujone, a compound that can make the brain more prone to seizures. Aripiprazole, like other antipsychotics, can slightly lower the seizure threshold on its own. Stacking the two together could, in theory, nudge that risk a little higher, especially at concentrated supplement doses.

I want to be honest that this is based on anecdotal, theoretical evidence, not strong studies, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, since your Aristada stays in your system for weeks after each shot, the safest move is to avoid Thuja supplements. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting anything new.

Aripiprazole injection is used to treat schizophrenia and to provide maintenance treatment for bipolar I disorder in adults. Different injectable products carry these approvals.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
