Acetaminophen, Hydrocodone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Thunder God Vine interacts with.
In vitro research shows that triptolide, a constituent of thunder god vine, inhibits CYP1A2 enzymes in human microsomes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea with this combo. Thunder God Vine contains a compound called triptolide, and in lab studies (test tube only, not in real people) it slowed down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. Your Vicodin or Norco does get processed in part through that pathway, so in theory the herb could cause a bit more of it to hang around in your body.
If that happened, you might feel the hydrocodone side more strongly: extra drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or slowed breathing. I'll be honest though, this is only a theoretical concern, and it hasn't actually been seen in humans. Still, Thunder God Vine itself can be toxic and should only be used under medical supervision, so please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining the two.

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Vicodin or Norco. The hydrocodone part is handled in part by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dishes, a compound in Thunder God Vine (triptolide) appears to slow that enzyme down. If that held true in people, hydrocodone could clear more slowly and build up, meaning stronger opioid effects like extra drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or in a worst case slowed breathing.
I want to be honest about the evidence though: this is theoretical, based only on test-tube studies, and hasn't actually been reported in real patients. It's not a reason to panic, but since Thunder God Vine can be risky on its own, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
