Buproprion, Dextromethorphan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Thunder God Vine interacts with.

Theoretically, thunder god vine might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that triptolide, a constituent of thunder god vine, inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes in human microsomes. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Auvelity combines dextromethorphan and bupropion, and the bupropion part is there on purpose to block an enzyme so dextromethorphan stays in your system longer and works better. Some of that dextromethorphan also gets handled by CYP3A4. Lab tests (in test tubes, not people) suggest a compound in Thunder God Vine can slow CYP3A4 down. In theory, that could nudge dextromethorphan levels up a bit, leading to things like dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, or feeling foggy.

I want to be honest: this is a theoretical concern only, and it has never actually been reported in humans. Still, Thunder God Vine itself can be quite toxic, so please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.
