Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Ganaxolone (Ztalmy) is a seizure medicine that works by calming brain activity, so it naturally has a sedating side to it. Common effects include drowsiness, sleepiness, dizziness, and feeling tired. The concern with Yerba Mansa here isn't about your body breaking the drug down differently. Instead, it's the idea that the herb may add its own mild calming or sedative-type effect on top of what Ganaxolone already does.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical caution, based on how these things behave rather than solid human studies. Still, if you noticed extra grogginess, slowed thinking, or unsteadiness while using both, that would be the thing to watch for. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially since this is taken for seizures.
