Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the gist with Valium (diazepam) and yerba mansa. Diazepam already works by calming activity in the brain, so it can leave you feeling drowsy, foggy, or unsteady on your feet. Yerba mansa is thought to have mild calming, sedative-leaning properties of its own. Put them together and the worry is that those effects could simply stack up, meaning more sleepiness, slowed reactions, or grogginess than you'd expect from your usual dose.

I want to be straight with you: this concern is theoretical, based on how these compounds may behave, not on solid human studies. It's not a dangerous chemical clash, just a sensible caution. If you take diazepam regularly and want to try yerba mansa, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
