Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Chlorpheniramine Polistirex, Codeine Polistirex
Chlorpheniramine Polistirex, Codeine Polistirex falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Yerba Mansa interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Tuzistra XR pairs two ingredients that already make you drowsy: codeine (an opioid cough medicine) and chlorpheniramine (a sedating antihistamine). The concern here is simple. If yerba mansa adds its own calming or sedating effect, the two together could leave you more sleepy, foggy, dizzy, or slowed down than the medicine alone. With an opioid involved, deeper sedation and slower breathing are the effects we most want to avoid.
I'll be honest, this is a theoretical caution based on how these things work, not strong human studies on yerba mansa. So don't panic, but do mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you're older, take other sedatives, or drink alcohol.
