CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Zuclopenthizol
Zuclopenthizol falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Yerba Mansa interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the gist: Zuclopenthixol (Clopixol) is an antipsychotic that already tends to make people drowsy and relaxed. The concern with yerba mansa is that it may add its own mild calming effect on top of that, so the two together could leave you feeling more sedated than usual. Think extra sleepiness, slowed thinking, dizziness, or feeling unsteady on your feet.
I want to be honest with you though, this is a theoretical concern based on how these things work, not something proven in people. Yerba mansa simply hasn't been well studied. Still, since heavy sedation can be risky, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and don't change your Clopixol on your own.
