Zuclopenthizol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.

Plumbagin, a constituent of Ceylon leadwort, has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) in vitro. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6. Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include amitriptyline (Elavil), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), and others.

Here's the situation with zuclopenthixol (Clopixol) and Ceylon Leadwort. Your body relies partly on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to break down and clear this antipsychotic. A compound in Ceylon Leadwort, plumbagin, has been shown in test-tube studies to slow that enzyme down. If it did the same in people, zuclopenthixol could build up a bit more than usual.

In practice, higher levels might mean stronger sedation, dizziness, low blood pressure, dry mouth, or movement-related side effects like stiffness or restlessness. That said, this is theoretical right now and only seen in lab work, not in real patients, so I wouldn't panic. Since zuclopenthixol needs careful dosing, please run this past your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Plumbagin, a constituent of Ceylon leadwort, has demonstrated immunosuppressant activity in animal research. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy. Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), corticosteroids (glucocorticoids), and others.

I want to be straight with you here. The interaction on file pairs Ceylon Leadwort with immunosuppressant medicines, but Zuclopenthixol (Clopixol) isn't one of those. It's an antipsychotic used for conditions like schizophrenia, so the listed concern about plumbagin dampening immune-suppressing therapy doesn't directly fit this drug.

On top of that, the evidence behind this interaction is only laboratory and animal data, so it's theoretical even for the drugs it does apply to. That said, Ceylon Leadwort isn't a well-studied supplement, and its plumbagin can irritate tissues. Since I can't confirm how it behaves alongside Zuclopenthixol specifically, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them rather than assuming it's fine.
