Ketoprofen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.

There is some concern that Ceylon leadwort might potentiate the effects of anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs and possibly increase the risk of bleeding. Ceylon leadwort root extract has been shown to decrease platelet adhesion and prolong bleeding in animals. However, this effect has not yet been demonstrated in humans. Until more is known, use cautiously in patients taking anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs. Some of these drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pair. Ketoprofen is an NSAID, and like aspirin and ibuprofen, it already has a mild blood-thinning effect of its own because it lessens how well your platelets stick together. Ceylon Leadwort appears to do something similar, at least in animal studies, by reducing platelet stickiness and lengthening bleeding time. Stack the two and you could nudge up your risk of bleeding problems, things like easy bruising, nosebleeds, stomach upset, or dark stools.

I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This concern comes from lab and animal research, not human studies, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven danger. Still, I'd play it safe. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you ever notice unusual bleeding or bruising.

Ceylon Leadwort (Plumbago zeylanica) is a plant long used in Ayurvedic and other traditional medicine systems, mainly for digestion, skin problems, and pain. Solid human studies are lacking, and the plant contains plumbagin, a compound that can irritate skin and tissues and may be unsafe in larger amounts. What Is Ketoprofen Used For?

Brand names: Orudis, Oruvail Gel, Powergel, Oruvail Injection

Ketoprofen capsules (including the brand Orudis) are used to manage the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, to treat pain, and to treat primary dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods).

Ketoprofen extended-release capsules are approved for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis only. Because of the way they slowly release the drug, ketoprofen extended-release capsules are not recommended for treating acute (sudden) pain.
