Why this applies to Buprenorphine

Buprenorphine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.

Plumbagin, a constituent of Ceylon leadwort, has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) in vitro. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4. Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), clarithromycin (Biaxin), indinavir (Crixivan), sildenafil (Viagra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist for buprenorphine. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break this medicine down. In lab tests, plumbagin (a compound in Ceylon Leadwort) appears to slow that enzyme. If that happened in your body, buprenorphine could clear out more slowly and build up a bit, which in theory might mean stronger effects like drowsiness, slowed breathing, dizziness, nausea, or constipation.

The important part: this is only seen in test tube and animal studies, never reported in real people, so it's mostly theoretical. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but since buprenorphine is a serious opioid medicine, please run any Ceylon Leadwort use by your pharmacist or doctor first.
