CoQ10 Advantage Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking CoQ10 Advantage against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
CoQ10 Advantage contains one active ingredient: coenzyme Q10 (also called ubiquinone), a compound your cells make naturally and that plays a role in energy production. The capsule also holds several inactive ingredients—beta cyclodextrin, gelatin, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and silica—which are fillers and binders that help deliver the active ingredient.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
The evidence for coenzyme Q10 varies by use. It is likely effective for treating coenzyme Q10 deficiency itself.
For fibromyalgia, migraines, congestive heart failure, and diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage from diabetes), the research shows it is possibly effective—meaning there is some promising evidence, but it is not yet conclusive. Talk with your doctor about whether it might help your particular situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Coenzyme Q10 is generally well tolerated by most adults. In clinical trials, no serious adverse effects were reported.
The most common side effects are gastrointestinal—appetite loss, diarrhea, stomach discomfort, heartburn, nausea, or vomiting—and these occur in less than 1% of people; dividing doses above 100 mg may help. Headache, dizziness, and insomnia have also been reported.
For pregnancy, there isn't enough reliable safety data, so it's best to avoid it unless your doctor advises otherwise. Safety while breastfeeding has not been well studied; check with your doctor before using it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking CoQ10 Advantage, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take chemotherapy drugs (especially alkylating agents like cyclophosphamide)—coenzyme Q10 may reduce how well they work. Blood thinners like warfarin are a major concern too; coenzyme Q10 may decrease their effectiveness.
Blood pressure medications are also worth reviewing, as coenzyme Q10 might lower your blood pressure further.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
CoQ10 Advantage may be worth considering if you have a documented coenzyme Q10 deficiency or are exploring treatment for migraines, heart failure, or diabetic nerve pain—but the evidence for these last three is still developing. If you take blood thinners like warfarin, blood pressure medications, or chemotherapy drugs, do not start this without checking with your doctor or pharmacist first.
Talk with your own healthcare provider about whether it's right for you and your medications.

CoQ10 Advantage by Dr. David Williams Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
CoQ10 Advantage by Dr.
David Williams contains coenzyme Q10, which has documented interactions with chemotherapy drugs, blood thinners, and blood pressure medications. The most serious concern is with alkylating agents (chemotherapy drugs like cyclophosphamide): coenzyme Q10's antioxidant effects may theoretically reduce how well these drugs work by protecting tumor cells from the oxidative stress these agents rely on to kill cancer cells.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Coenzyme Q10 may also decrease the effectiveness of warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner used to prevent clots. Because coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to vitamin K, it can have clot-promoting effects that work against warfarin.
A small number of cases of reduced warfarin effectiveness linked to coenzyme Q10 have been reported.
Additionally, coenzyme Q10 might add to the effects of blood pressure medications and theoretically lower blood pressure further, though research on this is mixed. Altogether, these interactions span 198 individual medications.
If you take any of these drug types, check your exact medications with the tool on this page before starting.

For each ingredient in CoQ10 Advantage with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Coenzyme Q10
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
