Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This tincture contains one active ingredient: hemp aerial parts extract at 50 mg per serving. The extract comes suspended in medium chain triglyceride oil (a carrier fat) and flavored with peppermint oil.

That's it—no other active ingredients.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Hemp product and its label doesn't state a use — see Hemp's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

We don't have reliable evidence that hemp works for the conditions on file here—constipation, eczema (atopic dermatitis), or familial hypercholesterolemia (inherited high cholesterol). The data we hold shows insufficient evidence to rate hemp's effectiveness for any of these uses.

If you're thinking about using it for one of these reasons, that's a conversation to have with your doctor about what the actual evidence shows and what might work better.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Hemp seed foods in normal eating amounts are generally well tolerated. However, concentrated extracts and supplements like this one are less studied, so caution is warranted.

Serious side effects are rare but have been reported: allergic reactions including anaphylaxis, facial swelling, and breathing trouble (some tied to a specific hemp seed protein); and in one case, a very young child given high-dose hemp extract developed liver inflammation and elevated liver enzymes. At typical supplement doses, most people don't experience problems, but the safety profile of concentrated extracts isn't as well established as food amounts.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Hemp.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 939 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining this product with estrogens or hormone therapy (moderate risk of interference with how your body handles hormones). Also flag blood thinners and blood pressure medications (minor risk of increased bleeding or excessive blood pressure drop).

Finally, if you take any medication processed by your liver, especially those cleared by the CYP1A2 or CYP3A4 pathways, confirm the combination is safe—hemp may reduce how well these drugs work.

Estrogens

Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)

Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Antihypertensive Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.

Hemp CBD Tincture Peppermint 50 mg by RE: Botanicals: Common Questions

Does Hemp CBD Tincture Peppermint 50 mg by RE: Botanicals interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Hemp CBD Tincture Peppermint 50 mg has a known interaction with 938 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Hemp CBD Tincture Peppermint 50 mg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I'm on birth control or hormone therapy?
Not without talking to your doctor first. Hemp has estrogenic effects and may interfere with how your body handles estrogen. This is a moderate-level concern, so it's important to get personalized advice before combining them.
What's hemp aerial parts extract, and how is it different from hemp seed?
Hemp aerial parts are the leaves, flowers, and stems of the hemp plant. They're different from hemp seed, and concentrated extracts of the plant parts are less studied for safety than eating hemp seeds as food. The caution here is really about the extract form, not the plant itself.
Does this product actually help with constipation, eczema, or high cholesterol?
We don't have reliable evidence that it does. For all three conditions on file here, the data shows insufficient evidence to say whether hemp works. If you're interested in trying it for one of these reasons, talk with your doctor about what treatments actually have evidence behind them.
Are there any common side effects?
At typical doses, hemp is generally well tolerated. Serious side effects like allergic reactions or anaphylaxis are rare. One very high-dose case in a young child showed liver inflammation, but that's not typical of regular supplement use. Still, if you notice allergic symptoms, breathing trouble, or unusual bleeding, let your doctor know right away.
Is it safe to take if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
We don't have enough safety data on file to say one way or the other. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist—they can give you personalized advice for your situation.
