Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: hemp aerial parts extract at 15 mg per capsule. Hemp aerial parts are the above-ground portions of the cannabis plant and have been studied for various uses.

The capsule also contains inactive ingredients (virgin coconut oil, cellulose, and water) that help deliver and stabilize the extract.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Hemp product and its label doesn't state a use — see Hemp's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for hemp aerial parts extract isn't established in the data we hold. The product facts list several conditions—constipation, atopic dermatitis (eczema), and familial hypercholesterolemia (a genetic cholesterol disorder)—but all carry a rating of insufficient reliable evidence to rate effectiveness.

That means there isn't enough solid research yet to say whether this extract works for these uses.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Hemp seed foods are generally well tolerated in normal amounts, but concentrated extracts like this one are less studied, so caution is advised. Most people who take hemp products orally tolerate them well, though rare serious effects have been reported: anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction), heart rhythm problems, and syncope (fainting).

Uncommon allergic reactions to hemp seed protein can range from hives to facial swelling and breathing trouble. There's also a rare case report of elevated liver enzymes in a young child given very high doses of hemp extract for seizures.

Because this is a concentrated extract rather than a food, the safety data is limited.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Hemp.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 939 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before you start, check your medications if you take estrogens or hormone therapy (moderate interaction); blood pressure drugs, ACE inhibitors, or blood thinners (minor); or any medications your liver breaks down using CYP1A2 or CYP3A4 enzymes (minor). Use the search tool on this page with your exact drug names.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

If you take hormone therapy, blood pressure medications, blood thinners, or drugs processed by your liver, talk with your pharmacist before starting this product—interactions are documented and need checking against your exact medications. The product is generally well tolerated in most people, but concentrated hemp extracts aren't as well studied as whole hemp foods, and rare serious allergic reactions have occurred.

No solid evidence supports its use for the listed conditions yet.

Estrogens

Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)

Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Antihypertensive Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.

Hemp CBD Capsules Classic 15 mg by RE: Botanicals: Common Questions

Does Hemp CBD Capsules Classic 15 mg by RE: Botanicals interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Hemp CBD Capsules Classic 15 mg has a known interaction with 938 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Hemp CBD Capsules Classic 15 mg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I'm on birth control or hormone replacement therapy?
Not without checking first. Hemp may interfere with how your body processes estrogen, which could affect how well your hormone therapy works. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before starting—they can review your specific medication and help you decide.
Will this lower my blood pressure if I'm already on blood pressure medicine?
Possibly. Hemp seed protein has shown blood pressure-lowering effects in animal studies, so taking it alongside your blood pressure medication could theoretically add to the effect and drop your pressure too low. Your pharmacist should review this before you start.
What are the side effects I might experience?
Most people tolerate hemp well with no issues. Rare serious effects reported include allergic reactions (hives, facial swelling, breathing trouble, even anaphylaxis), heart rhythm problems, and fainting. Uncommon allergic reactions to hemp seed protein do occur. Because this is a concentrated extract, side effect data is more limited than for whole hemp foods.
Is there evidence this product actually works for constipation or eczema?
Not yet. The effectiveness data for hemp aerial parts extract on constipation, eczema, or high cholesterol shows insufficient evidence to rate. There isn't enough solid research to say whether it works for these uses.
Is it safe to take this if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
There isn't enough data on file for us to say either way. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you during pregnancy or breastfeeding—they can give you personalized advice based on your situation.
Does this contain any fillers or just hemp?
It contains the hemp extract plus three inactive ingredients: virgin coconut oil, cellulose (a plant-based binder), and water. These help stabilize and deliver the active ingredient.
