  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This supplement contains one active ingredient: hemp aerial parts extract, supplying 15 mg of cannabinoids per capsule. The extract is delivered in a base of virgin coconut oil, cellulose, and water — these are inactive ingredients that help form the capsule and deliver the active component.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Hemp product and its label doesn't state a use — see Hemp's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for hemp aerial parts extract isn't established for the conditions listed in our data — constipation, eczema, and high cholesterol all show insufficient reliable evidence to rate. That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means the research either isn't there yet or isn't strong enough for us to draw firm conclusions.

If you're considering this for a specific condition, talk with your pharmacist about what the current research actually shows.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Hemp seed foods in normal amounts are generally well tolerated. However, this is a concentrated extract, which is less studied than whole hemp seed foods.

The safety data we hold recommends caution with concentrated extracts due to limited research. In rare cases, people have reported allergic reactions ranging from hives to anaphylaxis and facial swelling.

There's also one case report of elevated liver enzymes and hepatitis in a young child given high-dose hemp extract for seizures, though this involved much larger amounts and a very specific situation. Most people tolerate hemp seed oil without problems, but serious side effects, though rare, have been reported.

Estrogens

Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)

Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Antihypertensive Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.

Hemp CBD Capsules Classic 15 mg by RE: Botanicals: Common Questions

Does Hemp CBD Capsules Classic 15 mg by RE: Botanicals interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Hemp CBD Capsules Classic 15 mg has a known interaction with 938 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Hemp CBD Capsules Classic 15 mg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Is this safe to take with my birth control?
Not without checking first. This supplement contains hemp extract, which may theoretically interfere with how estrogens work in your body, including hormonal birth control. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before adding it to your routine.
Can hemp extract cause allergic reactions?
Yes, though they're uncommon. Allergic reactions to hemp seed range from mild (hives) to severe (anaphylaxis, facial swelling, breathing problems). If you've never had hemp products before or have a history of food allergies, be cautious and talk to your pharmacist.
What's hemp aerial parts extract?
It's an extract made from the above-ground parts of the hemp plant — leaves, stems, and flowers. This capsule delivers 15 mg of cannabinoids, the active compounds in hemp, per dose.
Will this help with my eczema or high cholesterol?
The evidence isn't established yet. We don't have reliable research showing hemp aerial parts extract works for constipation, eczema, or high cholesterol. If you're interested in it for one of these, ask your pharmacist what the current research actually supports.
Is hemp extract as safe as hemp seed oil?
Hemp seed oil in food amounts is well studied and generally safe. This is a concentrated extract, which has much less safety data behind it. Our data recommends caution with concentrated extracts until more research is available.
