HelloPharmacist Scorecard of L-Carnitine Blueberry Flavored Gummies by SNAP
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: L-carnitine tartrate, an amino acid compound that plays a role in how your body breaks down fat for energy. The gummies also contain inactive ingredients — water, sweeteners (isomalt and maltitol), pectin, blueberry and black carrot flavoring, and acids for taste — but no added vitamins or herbal components.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
L-carnitine is effective for treating true L-carnitine deficiency. For other uses — high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), congestive heart failure, and angina — the evidence rates it as possibly effective, meaning some studies show promise but more research is needed to confirm real benefit.
The data we hold doesn't establish whether these gummies will help with those conditions in your particular situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-carnitine is generally well tolerated at typical doses. The most common side effects are digestive — stomach cramps, pain, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, and reduced appetite — and a few people have reported a fishy body odor.
Seizures are rare. There isn't enough reliable safety data to know whether this product is safe for everyone, so it's best used only under medical supervision.
Safety while breastfeeding hasn't been well studied, so caution is advised if you're nursing. There's no pregnancy safety rating on file for this ingredient.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking these gummies, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take a blood thinner — warfarin (Coumadin) or acenocoumarol (Sintrom) — because L-carnitine may increase their effect and raise bleeding risk. Also check if you take thyroid hormone replacement, since L-carnitine may reduce how well it works.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have a confirmed L-carnitine deficiency, this product may help. If you take a blood thinner like warfarin or a thyroid hormone replacement, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — these are serious interactions.
Otherwise, the most you're likely to notice is mild stomach upset. Talk it over with your own healthcare provider to see if it makes sense for you.

L-Carnitine Blueberry Flavored Gummies by SNAP Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
SNAP's L-Carnitine Blueberry Gummies contains L-carnitine tartrate, which interacts with blood thinners and thyroid hormone replacements.
The most serious interaction is with warfarin (Coumadin) and acenocoumarol (Sintrom) — both blood thinners — where L-carnitine may increase their anticoagulant effects, raising your bleeding risk. This is a Moderate-severity concern, and the effect has been documented in at least two case reports with acenocoumarol.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
L-carnitine also interacts with thyroid hormone replacement therapy (Moderate severity). The supplement appears to block thyroid hormone from entering cells and may reduce how well your thyroid medication works, potentially worsening symptoms of low thyroid function.
Altogether, these interactions span 19 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to see if any of your prescriptions are affected before you start these gummies.

For each ingredient in L-Carnitine Blueberry Flavored Gummies with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
L-Carnitine Tartrate
Acenocoumarol (Sintrom)
Theoretically, L-carnitine might increase the anticoagulant effects of acenocoumarol.
L-carnitine might enhance the anticoagulant effects of acenocoumarol, an oral anticoagulant similar to warfarin, but shorter-acting. There are at least two case reports of INR elevation with concomitant use. In one case, a 33-year-old male with a previously stable INR had an elevated INR of 4.65 after L-carnitine was started and continued for 10 weeks. INR normalized after discontinuation of the L-carnitine-containing product.
Thyroid Hormone
Theoretically, L-carnitine might decrease the effectiveness of thyroid hormone replacement.
L-carnitine appears to act as a peripheral thyroid hormone antagonist by inhibiting entry of thyroid hormone into the nucleus of cells. Taking L-carnitine also seems to diminish some of the symptoms of hyperthyroidism.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Theoretically, L-carnitine might increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin.
L-carnitine might increase the anticoagulant effects of acenocoumarol, a shorter-acting oral anticoagulant similar to warfarin. There is not enough information to know whether this interaction occurs with L-carnitine and warfarin.
