Feverfew is generally well tolerated in the short term, though some people get allergic reactions or mouth irritation. Taking fresh feverfew leaves by mouth is more likely to cause mouth ulcers and tongue or lip problems than commercial preparations.

Common side effects from the capsule form include stomach pain, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, gas, heartburn, and nausea; a skin rash can show up in sensitive people. Avoid this product during pregnancy — it may stimulate the uterus and we don't have enough safety data.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, feverfew might have additive effects and increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Laboratory research suggests that feverfew may inhibit platelet aggregation. Additionally, in one case report, a 36-year-old patient taking feverfew 2400 mg daily for 3 months experienced vaginal bleeding and a prolonged menstrual cycle, with a modest increase in partial thromboplastin time (PTT) and prothrombin time (PT).
