What’s inside

Full disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Full

Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 4 of its 4 active ingredients.
  • “Hemp Extract” is listed as a grouped ingredient — the label gives one combined amount (64 mg) without saying how much of each component you get.

This supplement contains four active ingredients: cannabidiol, minor cannabinoids, tetrahydrocannabinol, and phytocannabinoids — all delivered as part of the hemp extract blend. The product is in capsule form and includes coconut oil and the capsule material itself as inactive ingredients.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Hemp product and its label doesn't state a use — see Hemp's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence we hold doesn't establish that this product is effective for constipation, eczema (atopic dermatitis), or familial hypercholesterolemia — the data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for any of these uses. More research is needed before we can say whether it works for these purposes.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Hemp seed foods are generally well tolerated in normal amounts, but concentrated extracts like this one are less studied, so caution is advised. In larger doses or as supplements, safety data is limited.

Serious side effects are rare but have been reported: anaphylaxis, allergic reactions like hives and facial swelling, long QT syndrome (an abnormal heart rhythm), and in one case of very high-dose use in a young child, elevated liver enzymes and hepatitis. Allergies to hemp seed do occur, though uncommon.

Pregnancy and lactation safety data isn't on file for this product.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Hemp.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 939 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before you take this, double-check if you're on hormone therapy (estrogens) — a Moderate interaction is documented. Also confirm with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs or ACE inhibitors), blood thinners (anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs), or any medications your liver metabolizes, since Minor interactions are documented.

Estrogens

Theoretically, hemp might interfere with hormone therapy due to its estrogenic effects.
In an ovariectomized animal model, a diet containing hemp seed 1%, 2%, or 10% resulted in normalized plasma levels of 17-beta-estradiol. The mechanism of action for this effect is unclear.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)

Theoretically, consuming hemp seed protein isolate with ACE inhibitors might have additive effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Hemp seed protein hydrolysate has shown ACE inhibitor-like effects in a hypertensive animal model. However, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans. Until more is known, monitor blood pressure and potassium levels.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
In animal research, hemp seed at 5% of the diet inhibits platelet aggregation in vitro. However, in human research, taking hemp seed oil 2 grams daily for 12 weeks does not inhibit the aggregation of platelets in vitro.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Antihypertensive Drugs

Theoretically, hemp seed protein may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
In a hypertensive animal model, hemp seed protein hydrolysate reduced systolic blood pressure by a mechanism possibly involving the inhibition of renin and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activities. However, there was no effect of hemp seed protein on blood pressure in normotensive animals. Furthermore, hempseed oil consumption does not seem to reduce blood pressure in humans.

Likelihood Unlikely Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP1A2 enzymes.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates

Theoretically, hemp might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that hemp induces CYP3A4 enzymes.

Organic Full Spectrum Hemp Extract by Upstate Elevator Supply Co: Common Questions

Does Organic Full Spectrum Hemp Extract by Upstate Elevator Supply Co interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Organic Full Spectrum Hemp Extract has a known interaction with 938 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Organic Full Spectrum Hemp Extract contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I'm on birth control or hormone therapy?
A Moderate interaction is documented with estrogens. Hemp phytocannabinoids may theoretically interfere with how your body regulates hormone levels. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — they can assess your specific situation and whether this is right for you.
What's actually in this product?
It contains four active ingredients: cannabidiol, minor cannabinoids, tetrahydrocannabinol, and phytocannabinoids, all from the hemp extract. It also has coconut oil and a capsule shell as inactive ingredients.
Does this actually work for anything?
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that it's effective for constipation, eczema, or high cholesterol — there's insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for those uses. More research is needed.
Are there side effects I should know about?
Hemp products are generally well tolerated, though concentrated extracts like this are less studied than food amounts. Rare serious side effects reported include allergic reactions like anaphylaxis, hives, and facial swelling, as well as very rare heart rhythm abnormalities. If you have a known hemp allergy or heart issues, tell your doctor before taking it.
Is this safe in pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
Safety data for pregnancy and lactation isn't on file for this product. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's appropriate for your situation — they can give you personalized advice.
Can I take this with blood thinners or blood pressure medications?
Minor interactions are documented with both. Hemp seed protein has shown blood-pressure-lowering effects in animal research, and animal data also suggests a theoretical effect on bleeding risk, though human research on hemp seed oil suggests the risk at typical doses is low. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining it with these medications.
