Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
ProbioMax Sb DF is a 5-ingredient capsule built around live probiotic organisms. The formula includes Saccharomyces boulardii (a beneficial yeast), Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis HN019, and one additional Howaru ingredient we cannot fully identify from the label.
These are the active ingredients doing the work. The capsule also contains inactive ingredients—hypromellose, gellan gum, water, hydroxypropyl cellulose, ascorbyl palmitate, and silica—which help hold and deliver the formula.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Saccharomyces boulardii is rated possibly effective for rotaviral diarrhea, travelers' diarrhea, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, necrotizing enterocolitis, Clostridioides difficile infection, and Helicobacter pylori. Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, but possibly ineffective for atopic disease; evidence isn't established for acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Bifidobacterium longum lacks sufficient evidence for the conditions studied so far—age-related cognitive decline, allergic rhinitis, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, generalized anxiety disorder, asthma, and athletic performance. We hold no effectiveness data for the other two ingredients.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults. However, the facts include important cautions: avoid this product if you're critically ill or immunocompromised, because live organisms carry a rare but documented risk of fungemia (a yeast or bacterial infection in the bloodstream) in those populations, especially if you have a central line or are on broad-spectrum antibiotics.
Gastrointestinal side effects—abdominal cramps, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, bloating, diarrhea, and burping—are uncommon but can occur. One trial reported a rash and itching, though causation wasn't clear.
Safety data for Bifidobacterium longum during breastfeeding are limited; check with your doctor.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your antifungal medications (they're the most serious concern here) and any antibiotics you're taking. Antifungals may reduce how well the Saccharomyces boulardii in this product works, and antibiotics may reduce the effectiveness of the Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum.
Use the medication checker on this page to confirm before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may help with certain types of diarrhea and some digestive conditions if you're in good health. Don't use it if you're seriously ill, immunocompromised, or hospitalized—talk to your doctor first if you have any of those concerns.
Always check your antibiotics and antifungals against the tool below before you start, and ask your pharmacist when to separate doses.

Formulation
Supports gut integrity and function
ProbioMax Sb DF is ideal for individuals seeking a well-rounded supplement to support a healthy balance of intestinal flora, cellular health, and immune health. It features four probiotic strains, including the extensively studied HN019 strain of Bifidobacterium lactis, plus Saccharomyces boulardii (Sb), a non-pathogenic yeast, to further complement healthy gastrointestinal ecology. Gastro-resistant, vegetarian capsules provide an innovative solution for targeted delivery of sensitive ingredients to the small intestine, as they alleviate exposure in a nitrogen-purged blister pack to provide protection from heat, moisture, and oxygen, factors known to compromise probiotic stability.
Formulated to exclude: Wheat, gluten, soy, animal and diary products, fish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, sesame, ingredients derived from genetically modified organisms (GMOs), artificial colors, and artificial sweeteners.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
ProbioMax Sb DF by XYMOGEN contains live probiotic organisms, and the most serious interaction we have data for involves antifungal medications.
Saccharomyces boulardii, one of the active ingredients, may lose effectiveness if you take antifungals at the same time—because antifungals can kill the live yeast organisms in the supplement.
