Probiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy
Probiotic is a dietary supplement by Everyday Essentials with 8 active ingredients. Its ingredients are commonly taken for digestive health and regularity, diarrhea (including antibiotic-related), irritable bowel syndrome (ibs) symptoms.Based on those ingredients, 182 medications have a known interaction with it, the most serious rated moderate. The ingredients most likely to interact are Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum. Use the checker below to test your specific medication, or read the full HelloPharmacist Interaction Report.

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic by Everyday Essentials
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 8 active probiotic ingredients: Lactobacillus salivarius, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactococcus lactis, Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, Bifidobacterium longum, and Lactobacillus plantarum. These are live beneficial bacteria meant to support your gut health.
The capsule also contains several inactive ingredients — acacia gum, inulin, complex marine polysaccharide, rice extract, maltodextrin, tricalcium phosphate, potassium chloride, sodium chloride, coconut oil powder, and a postbiotic — that serve as fillers, binders, and delivery support.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for this probiotic's effectiveness varies by ingredient and condition. Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus are possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and some other conditions like respiratory tract infections and bacterial vaginosis.
For many other conditions listed in the research — hay fever, anxiety, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and constipation — the evidence is either insufficient to rate or, in a few cases, points to possibly ineffective. The data we hold doesn't establish clear effectiveness for all the conditions this product might be marketed for, so talk to your doctor about whether it's right for your specific needs.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people, though the safety data are limited. Bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort have been reported with probiotic use, though these side effects are uncommon.
One case of vomiting and fever was reported in a child taking a combination of probiotics, but it's unclear if the probiotics caused it. A key caution: if you have a weakened immune system, are critically ill, have a central line (catheter), or are a preterm infant, probiotics carry a higher risk of serious bloodstream infection (bacteremia or sepsis), though such cases are rare.
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially if you fall into any of these categories. During pregnancy, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Bifidobacterium longum are rated possibly safe.
However, safety data on probiotic supplements in pregnancy are limited — food-based probiotics are generally considered more acceptable — so talk with your doctor before use if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take any antibiotic — prescription or over-the-counter — check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting this probiotic or at the same time. Antibiotics can reduce how well these probiotic strains work.
Your healthcare provider may recommend spacing them out several hours apart. No other medication interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic may help with IBS and a few other digestive and immune concerns, but the evidence isn't strong for all claimed uses. If you're generally healthy with a normal immune system, it's likely tolerable, but watch for bloating or stomach upset.
The biggest caution is taking it with antibiotics — they can kill off the live bacteria, defeating the purpose. Before you start, especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any immune concerns, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist.

Probiotic by Everyday Essentials Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Everyday Essentials Probiotic contains several ingredients with documented interactions with antibiotic drugs.
Through its Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Bifidobacterium longum content, this product may decrease the effectiveness of these probiotic strains when taken together with antibiotics — a Moderate severity interaction. Since these probiotic preparations contain live organisms, antibiotics can kill a significant number of them, reducing their benefit.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The remaining ingredients we could not check for interactions are Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactococcus lactis, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, and Lactobacillus plantarum. One ingredient we checked, Streptococcus thermophilus, showed no interactions in our data.
Althogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. If you take any antibiotic — whether prescription or over-the-counter — run it through the interaction checker on this page or talk to your pharmacist or doctor about spacing out when you take the probiotic and the antibiotic to protect the probiotic's effectiveness.
