Probiotic Complex Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Nucific
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic Complex against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic Complex by Nucific
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Nucific Probiotic Complex delivers 15 active probiotic ingredients — beneficial bacteria strains designed to support your gut health. The checked strains include Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium breve, and Streptococcus thermophilus, along with nine other Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species.
These are live, active microorganisms meant to colonize your digestive tract. The inactive ingredients — rice dextrin, anhydrous dextrose, vegetable cellulose, and stearic acid — are fillers and capsule material.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for probiotics varies by strain and condition. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis; it's possibly ineffective for atopic disease.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections. For most other conditions covered in the data—hay fever, anxiety, asthma, cognitive decline, and others—the evidence across these strains is insufficient to rate.
We hold no effectiveness data for the nine ingredients we couldn't check, and for several of the checked ones, the evidence simply hasn't been established yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, though the data are limited in some areas. The main concern is rare but serious: since these are live microorganisms, there's a small risk of infection — bacteremia or sepsis — in people who are critically ill, severely immunocompromised, or have indwelling catheters or recent surgery.
Orally, uncommon gastrointestinal side effects have been reported, including abdominal discomfort, bloating, flatulence, diarrhea, and burping. One clinical trial reported isolated cases of rash and itching, though it's unclear whether the probiotics were responsible.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding data are very limited; Bifidobacterium longum is rated possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation, but no pregnancy or lactation information is on file for most of the other ingredients.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your antibiotic medications before taking this product — Moderate-severity interaction documented. Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bifidobacterium breve can all lose effectiveness if you take them at the same time as antibiotics.
Your pharmacist can help you space the doses correctly. We couldn't check nine of the fifteen ingredients, so run your complete medication list through the interaction tool to be sure.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may help with IBS and antibiotic-associated diarrhea if you choose the right strain. If you take antibiotics, you'll need to time this carefully — space the doses apart so the antibiotics don't kill off the probiotics.
Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you're seriously ill, have a weakened immune system, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Probiotic Complex by Nucific Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Nucific Probiotic Complex contains 15 probiotic ingredients, and we've found documented interactions for six of them.
The most serious concern is with antibiotic drugs (Moderate severity): Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bifidobacterium breve all interact with antibiotics in the same way. Since these probiotics are live organisms, taking them at the same time as antibiotics may kill off a significant portion of the beneficial bacteria, reducing the supplement's effectiveness.
You'll want to space your doses apart — ask your pharmacist or doctor for the exact timing.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
We couldn't check the interaction data for nine of the ingredients: Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus brevis, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus casei, Bifidobacterium infantis, and Lactococcus lactis. That doesn't mean they don't interact with anything — we just don't have monographs for them.
Streptococcus thermophilus, one of the checked ingredients, shows no interactions are documented in our data.
Altogethere, these interactions span 182 individual medications. Before you start this product alongside any prescription, run your exact medication list through the interaction checker on this page.

Lactobacillus acidophilus
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Bifidobacterium longum
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Lactobacillus bulgaricus
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus delbrueckii with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. delbrueckii.
Lactobacillus delbrueckii preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. delbrueckii preparations by at least two hours.
Bifidobacterium bifidum
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
Since B. bifidum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. bifidum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Bifidobacterium breve
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium breve with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. breve.
Since B. breve preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. breve preparations by at least 2 hours.
