HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic XI 30 Billion CFUs by Mason Natural
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Probiotic XI contains 11 active ingredients: live beneficial bacteria strains including Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and several others organized into three blended groups (Probiotic Culture Blend, Bifido Probiotic Strains, and Lacto Probiotic Strains). The product delivers 30 billion colony-forming units (CFUs)—a measure of how many live organisms are in each dose.
The inactive ingredients are cellulose, vegetable stearates, and silicon dioxide, which are fillers and binders in the capsule.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Evidence for probiotics in this product is mixed and often limited. Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum show possibly effective ratings for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is also possibly effective for Helicobacter pylori infection and bacterial vaginosis. Most other uses listed—including allergic rhinitis (hay fever), asthma, anxiety, and cognitive decline—have insufficient evidence in our data to say whether these probiotics help.
For several ingredients, we hold no effectiveness information at all.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, though side effects can occur. Gastrointestinal discomfort—including abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence, and diarrhea—has been reported, though uncommon.
In rare cases, particularly in critically ill or severely immunocompromised patients, probiotic organisms have caused serious infections like bacteremia or sepsis; this risk is very low in otherwise healthy people. Pregnancy is rated possibly safe for Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum, and possibly safe for pregnancy and lactation for Bifidobacterium longum and Bifidobacterium breve, but data are limited—talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you use antibiotic drugs. Antibiotics can reduce how well the live bacteria in this probiotic work, so you may need to space out when you take each one.
