Resveratrol Plus contains two active ingredients. Trans-resveratrol is a compound found naturally in grapes and other plants.
Butcher's broom extract comes from the rhizome (underground stem) of the butcher's broom plant. The product also includes inactive ingredients — rice flour, gelatin capsule material, and maltodextrin — that serve as fillers and binders.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The data shows resveratrol is possibly effective for obesity and allergic rhinitis (hay fever), but possibly ineffective for cardiovascular disease and high cholesterol. Butcher's broom extract is possibly effective for chronic venous insufficiency (a condition affecting blood flow in the legs).
For other uses listed — diabetic retinopathy, hemorrhoids, orthostatic hypotension (sudden blood pressure drop when standing), and lymphedema — the evidence for butcher's broom is insufficient to rate its effectiveness.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Resveratrol is well tolerated in foods and typical supplement doses, but higher doses may cause digestive upset including diarrhea and loose stools. Long-term safety isn't fully established.
In people on peritoneal dialysis, it's been linked to headache, fatigue, and memory loss, though a clear cause hasn't been proven. A rare skin rash has also been reported.
Butcher's broom is generally well tolerated short-term but has limited long-term safety data. Common side effects are digestive — nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, and stomach discomfort.
Topically, it may cause contact dermatitis in sensitive people. Regarding pregnancy: resveratrol has insufficient safety data and concentrated supplements should be avoided.
Butcher's broom safety hasn't been established in pregnancy and should be avoided. Neither ingredient has enough information for breastfeeding; avoid use while nursing.

Resveratrol can theoretically increase the levels of several drug types by inhibiting liver enzymes that break them down. These include drugs metabolized by CYP2C19, CYP1A2, CYP3A4, and CYP2E1 — all Moderate severity interactions.
However, most of these remain theoretical; human studies haven't confirmed them. One exception: resveratrol 500 mg daily for 10 days raised chlorzoxazone (a CYP2E1 substrate) levels by about 54%.
Butcher's broom extract poses Moderate interactions with alpha-adrenergic drugs — it may reduce the effects of alpha-adrenergic antagonists (drugs used for high blood pressure and urinary symptoms) or amplify the effects of alpha-adrenergic agonists (used for congestion and low blood pressure).

Trans-Resveratrol
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Resveratrol may have antiplatelet effects and may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Resveratrol seems to have antiplatelet effects.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP2C19 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2E1.
In vitro research suggests that resveratrol inhibits CYP2E1 isoenzyme. Also, a pharmacokinetic study shows that taking resveratrol 500 mg daily for 10 days prior to taking a single dose of chlorzoxazone 250 mg increases the maximum concentration of chlorzoxazone by about 54%, the area under the curve of chlorzoxazone by about 72%, and the half-life of chlorzoxazone by about 35%. Chlorzoxazone is used as a probe drug for CYP2E1.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, clinical research shows that taking resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks does not necessitate dose adjustments to medications metabolized by CYP3A4.

Alpha-Adrenergic Agonists
Theoretically, butcher's broom might increase the effects and adverse effects of alpha-adrenergic agonists.
Animal and in vitro studies show that butcher's broom has alpha-adrenergic agonist effects.
Alpha-Adrenergic Antagonists
Theoretically, butcher's broom might reduce the effects of alpha-adrenergic antagonists.
