Ther-Biotic Children's Chewable Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Klaire Labs
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Ther-Biotic Children's Chewable against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Ther-Biotic Children's Chewable by Klaire Labs
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Ther-Biotic Children's Chewable is a blend of 8 probiotic ingredients—beneficial bacteria meant to support digestive health. The active species are Bifidobacterium infantis, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus paracasei, Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus casei, and Lactobacillus rhamnosus.
These are delivered as a chewable tablet with inactive ingredients including xylitol, natural cherry and vanilla flavors, silicon dioxide, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, and licorice extract.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for probiotics in this blend is limited and mixed. Bifidobacterium bifidum shows possibly effective evidence for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and respiratory tract infections.
The other Bifidobacterium species and Lactobacillus strains have insufficient evidence for most conditions we checked, including allergic rhinitis, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, anxiety, asthma, and age-related cognitive decline. For many intended uses of probiotics, the data simply isn't strong enough to say whether they work.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The probiotics in this product are generally well tolerated in healthy children, but caution is warranted for very ill or immunocompromised kids—including those in intensive care. Rare cases of blood infection (bacteremia) from these Bifidobacterium species have been reported in critically ill infants and preterm newborns; in one Japanese study, 2% of preterm infants receiving one strain developed bacteremia.
Minor digestive side effects like bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and constipation have been reported rarely. One case of vomiting and fever was reported in a child taking a similar probiotic blend, though it's unclear whether the probiotics caused it.
Use only with your doctor's guidance, and check with them before use, especially if your child is seriously ill or has a weakened immune system.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If your child takes antibiotic drugs, time them separately from this supplement—the antibiotics may kill off the live probiotic bacteria and reduce the product's effectiveness. Check with your child's doctor or pharmacist before combining them.
For the other ingredients we could not verify (Bifidobacterium infantis, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus casei, and Lactobacillus rhamnosus), no interactions are documented in our data, though this is not a guarantee none exist.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Ther-Biotic Children's Chewable is a multi-strain probiotic meant to support gut health in children. Bifidobacterium bifidum has some evidence for IBS and respiratory infections, but most other strains lack strong proof of benefit.
The main caution is timing with antibiotics—space them out so the antibiotics don't kill the live organisms in this supplement. If your child is very ill or immunocompromised, talk with their doctor or pharmacist before starting this product.

Ther-Biotic Children's Chewable by Klaire Labs Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Ther-Biotic Children's Chewable by Klaire Labs contains several probiotic bacteria, and three of them—Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium longum, and Bifidobacterium bifidum—have documented interactions.
The most serious concern is a Moderate interaction with antibiotic drugs. Because these probiotics are made of live organisms, taking them at the same time as antibiotics may kill off a large number of the beneficial bacteria, reducing how well the probiotic works.
You'll want to space out when your child takes antibiotics and this supplement.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. The antibiotic interaction is the only drug type documented for the ingredients we were able to check.
We could not verify interaction data for Bifidobacterium infantis, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus casei, and Lactobacillus rhamnosus—we hold no monograph for these ingredients.
To see if any of your child's specific medications are affected, use the interaction checker on this page. If antibiotics are in the picture, talk with your child's doctor or pharmacist about the best timing for both.
