What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Ubiquinol against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: ubiquinol, the reduced form of coenzyme Q10. Ubiquinol is a compound your body naturally makes and uses to fuel energy production in your cells and to protect them from oxidative damage.
The liquid form also includes medium chain triglycerides, silicon dioxide, and tocopherols as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
The evidence behind ubiquinol varies by condition. It's likely effective for coenzyme Q10 deficiency — the condition it's designed to address.
For fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, congestive heart failure, and diabetic neuropathy, the evidence is possibly effective, meaning there's some promising research but not yet strong proof. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this fits your particular situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Ubiquinol is generally well tolerated by most adults when used as directed. In clinical studies, no serious adverse effects have been reported.
The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — appetite suppression, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting — but these occur in fewer than one in a hundred people and often can be reduced by splitting doses above 100 mg. Headache, dizziness, and rarely insomnia have also been reported.
A small number of people have reported skin itching or allergic rash. There is not enough reliable safety data in pregnancy, so it's best to avoid use unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Safety while breastfeeding has not been well studied, so use caution and check with your doctor before taking it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Double-check before starting if you take warfarin (Coumadin) or any blood thinner, since coenzyme Q10 may reduce its effect — this is the Moderate concern. Also verify with your pharmacist if you're on chemotherapy drugs, especially alkylating agents like cyclophosphamide, as they may be less effective.
Blood pressure medications warrant a quick check for additive effects, though that's a minor interaction.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Ubiquinol is a reasonable choice if you have a coenzyme Q10 deficiency or are interested in the possibly effective uses like migraine support or heart health. If you take warfarin, any chemotherapy, or blood pressure medication, run this past your pharmacist first — those interactions matter.
Generally well tolerated, but check with your doctor before use in pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Ubiquinol by Dr. Mercola Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Ubiquinol by Dr.
Mercola can interact with a few important medication types. The most significant is warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner — coenzyme Q10 may work like vitamin K and reduce warfarin's ability to prevent clots.
Four cases of decreased warfarin effectiveness tied to coenzyme Q10 have been reported, making this a Moderate concern.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Chemotherapy drugs called alkylating agents (such as cyclophosphamide) are also a Moderate concern. Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant, and theoretically it could blunt the free-radical damage these chemotherapy drugs rely on to kill cancer cells — potentially making them less effective.
Blood pressure medications (antihypertensives) carry a Minor interaction: coenzyme Q10 may have additive effects, though research on its own blood pressure-lowering ability is mixed. Altogether, these interactions span 196 individual medications.
Use the medication checker below with your exact drugs before you start — especially if you take warfarin or any chemotherapy agent.

For each ingredient in Ubiquinol with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Ubiquinol
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
