Vitamin D3
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays a crucial role in several bodily processes. It helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus, which are necessary for healthy bones and teeth. It is also important for immune system function and may help to protect against certain diseases. Vitamin D is found in a variety of foods, including fatty fish, egg yolks, and fortified foods such as milk and cereal. It is also produced by the body when the skin is exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D supplements are available in a variety of forms, including tablets, capsules, and liquids. The recommended daily intake of vitamin D varies depending on age, sex, and other factors, and it is important to follow the dosage recommendations provided by a healthcare professional. There are several different forms of vitamin D available, with the two most popular being ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3).

Calcium
Calcium is a vital nutrient found in various foods such as dairy products, certain vegetables, and many fortified items. Over 99% of the body's calcium is stored in the bones and teeth, predominantly as hydroxyapatite. The remaining calcium circulates in the blood, extracellular fluid, muscles, and other tissues, where it is essential for processes like nerve signaling, muscle contraction, vascular activities, glandular secretion, and maintaining cell membrane and capillary permeability. It also plays critical roles in enzyme reactions, respiration, kidney function, and blood clotting, and is involved in neurotransmitter and hormone release, amino acid uptake, vitamin B12 absorption, and gastrin secretion. Calcium balance changes with age: it is positive during periods of growth, stable in adulthood, and tends to become negative in older age. Calcium loss occurs through feces, urine, sweat, and shedding skin cells. In women, reduced estrogen levels decrease calcium absorption and retention, increase bone turnover, and lead to lower bone mass. Calcium supplements come in various forms, including citrate and carbonate, which differ mainly in their calcium content and absorption rates. Calcium citrate is easily absorbed and can be taken without food, making it suitable for older adults or those with low stomach acid. In contrast, calcium carbonate, which contains a higher percentage of calcium, is best absorbed when taken with meals.

Silicon
Silicon, atomic number 14, is the second most abundant element on Earth, after oxygen. It is present in the human body in small amounts (such as in the skin, hair, and nails) and is considered a trace mineral in that regard. Dietary sources of silicon include oats, barley, rice, and some fruits/vegetables. Silicon is a popular dietary supplement, often consumed in the form of silica, which is a chemical compound made up of silicon and oxygen, or as silicic acid (also known as orthosilicic acid). Another common form of silicon utilized is Choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid (ch-OSA), which is the active ingredient in the popular product Biosil. Silicon is used for its purported effects to improve the health and appearance of the skin, hair, and nails. It has also historically been used for other health conditions, such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and cognitive decline.

General Statements |
- PROMOTES OPTIMUM CALCIUM ABSORPTION
- UNSURPASSED. Purity. Quality. Integrity. Effectiveness. Andrew Lessman Founder of ProCaps Labs
- Everyone recognizes the unquestioned role of Calcium in bone health, yet few of us realize that without Vitamin D, we cannot absorb Calcium and we cannot enjoy Calcium’s benefits. In short, Vitamin D is just as important as Calcium to bone health. That should be enough to encourage everyone to focus on Vitamin D, but it’s Vitamin D’s other benefits that has made headlines and has experts seeking to raise the recommended intake of Vitamin D. Historically, the body can manufacture limited amounts of Vitamin D when exposed to sunlight (via UV radiation); however, the aging process combined with our reduced sun exposure and increased use of sunscreens makes our body’s current production of Vitamin D inadequate and unreliable at best. Unfortunately, Vitamin D is also not abundant in food, and is only present in very limited quantities in some fish and eggs. Recognizing this, we have always given higher levels of Vitamin D3 in our multivitamins and also included Vitamin D3 in all our Calcium and bone health products for over 30 years. The latest research on Vitamin D3 validates the wisdom of the extra Vitamin D3 we have always provided while also serving to encourage our decision to fur ther increase those levels. Best of all, our Vitamin D3-1000 is a pleasure to use, since it comes in a small, soft, easy-to-swallow capsule and is designed to be gentle even to the most sensitive stomachs.
