1,3-dmaa + Phendimetrazine
Phendimetrazine brand names: Plegine, Metra, Weightrol.
We found no known interaction between 1,3-dmaa and Phendimetrazine in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
1,3-dmaa and Phendimetrazine
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Phendimetrazine and 1,3-dmaa in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.
Why No Interaction Is Listed for Phendimetrazine
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Phendimetrazine is filed under a single classification — oral drugs. 1,3-dmaa has documented interactions with 2 drug classes — the most serious being cytochrome p450 2d6 (cyp2d6) substrates (moderate) and stimulant drugs (moderate) — and none of Phendimetrazine’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
1,3-dmaa Does Interact With Other Medications
1,3-dmaa has 321 moderate known drug interactions in our database — Phendimetrazine isn’t one of them. If you take anything else, check it against the full list below.

What Phendimetrazine Is Prescribed For, and What 1,3-dmaa Has Been Studied For
These two come up together because they touch the same health topic — not because they do the same job. Phendimetrazine is a prescription medicine with approved uses on its FDA label. 1,3-dmaa is a supplement: what follows is what researchers have looked at it for, and how strong that evidence is.
Phendimetrazine is prescribed for: Phendimetrazine tartrate is used to help manage exogenous obesity (excess body weight from outside causes like diet and lifestyle) as a short-term addition to a calorie-restricted diet. It is intended for adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or a BMI of 27 or higher when other risk factors — such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol — are also present. It is approved for use as monotherapy only, meaning it must not be combined with other weight-loss drugs or stimulants. Both the tablet form and the extended-release capsule form are approved for this purpose.

1,3-dmaa for obesity
Preliminary clinical research suggests a specific combination product, containing 1,3-DMAA, caffeine, and other ingredients (OxyELITE Pro, USPLabs), could potentially affect weight or body fat loss. Taking a single 2-capsule dose seems to significantly increase calorie expenditure and markers of lipolysis within 1-2 hours compared to placebo in a small sample of healthy, exercise trained men and women.

Effectiveness ratings and the research summaries above are the verbatim record from the Natural Medicines database, which grades evidence from “Effective” down to “Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate”. A rating below the top of that scale means researchers have looked at it — not that it works, and never that it can stand in for a prescribed medicine. Do not stop or replace Phendimetrazine on your own; if you are taking 1,3-dmaa for the same health topic, tell your prescriber, especially if the medicine is being adjusted to a target.
See Every Supplement That Interacts With Phendimetrazine
This page covers 1,3-dmaa only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Phendimetrazine page lists 17 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Coffee Charcoal (moderate), European Mandrake (moderate), Glucomannan (moderate) and Guar Gum (moderate).
By severity: 1 major · 7 moderate · 9 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Phendimetrazine page
“Of the 17 supplements on file for phendimetrazine, an appetite-suppressant stimulant prescribed short term for weight loss, activated charcoal is the one that demands real caution. Charcoal binds medications in the gut and can sharply cut how much of a drug your body absorbs, leaving you with less appetite control than your prescriptio…”

About 1,3-dmaa
What is 1,3-dmaa?
- Energy and stimulation
- Pre-workout performance
- Weight loss
- Appetite suppression
- Focus and concentration
DMAA (1,3-dimethylamylamine) is a synthetic stimulant that was sold in pre-workout and weight-loss supplements but has been linked to serious harm, including high blood pressure, heart problems, strokes, and deaths. The U.S. FDA and regulators in many countries have declared it illegal and unsafe in dietary supplements, so it should be avoided.
Synthetic compound (not a true plant part); sometimes claimed to come from geranium · Capsules, tablets, pre-workout powders (often as a hidden ingredient)
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether 1,3-dmaa is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our 1,3-dmaa record says about it on its own.
1,3-dmaa: dosing
There is no safe or established dose of DMAA. It is not approved as a dietary supplement ingredient, and we do not recommend taking it in any amount.Because DMAA may be hidden in some products, the safest approach is to avoid pre-workout or weight-loss supplements that list ingredients like dimethylamylamine, methylhexanamine, or Geranamine.
