Vortioxetine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group 1,3-dmaa interacts with.

1,3-DMAA strongly inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) enzymes in vitro. Theoretically, 1,3-DMAA can increase levels of CYP2D6 substrates. Some of drugs that are CYP2D6 substrates include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.

Here's the situation with Trintellix (vortioxetine) and DMAA. Your body relies heavily on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear vortioxetine. In lab testing, DMAA appears to block that same enzyme. If that holds true in people, vortioxetine could clear more slowly and build up, which might mean stronger effects and more side effects like nausea, dizziness, headache, or trouble sleeping.

There's a bigger concern too. DMAA is a powerful, FDA-banned stimulant that raises serotonin and norepinephrine activity, and vortioxetine boosts serotonin. Combining them could push serotonin too high or strain your heart and blood pressure. This enzyme interaction is only theoretical right now (lab data, not human studies), but DMAA itself is genuinely risky. Please don't change anything on your own, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist first.
