Cariprazine Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Aegeline interacts with.

Aegeline inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity in vitro. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. Theoretically, aegeline may increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4. Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others. Use aegeline cautiously or avoid in patients taking these drugs.

Here's the gist for Vraylar (cariprazine): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear it. In lab dishes, aegeline appears to slow that enzyme down. If that happened in the body, cariprazine could build up a bit higher than normal, which might mean more side effects like drowsiness, restlessness, dizziness, tremor, or stomach upset.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. This effect has only been seen in test tube and animal studies, never confirmed in real people, so it's theoretical. Honestly, my bigger worry with aegeline is its link to serious liver injury, which is why regulators warned against it. I'd skip it and talk with your doctor or pharmacist before adding any supplement.

Aegeline is a compound originally identified in the bael tree (Aegle marmelos) that gained attention because it was added to some weight-loss and workout supplements. It is best known for being linked to serious liver injury in a product called OxyELITE Pro, and U.S. regulators warned against products containing it. There is no good evidence it safely helps with weight loss, and it should generally be avoided.

What Is Cariprazine Used For?

Brand name: Vraylar

Vraylar (cariprazine) is approved to treat schizophrenia in adults and teens 13 and older, and to treat acute manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder in adults and children 10 and older. In adults, it is also approved for depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder (bipolar depression).

Additionally, Vraylar is approved as an add-on therapy alongside antidepressants for adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) who need extra help beyond their current antidepressant alone.
