Aripiprazole Lauroxil falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Alfalfa interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of alfalfa with photosensitizing drugs might have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that excessive doses of alfalfa may increase photosensitivity, possibly due to its chlorophyll content. It is unclear if this effect would be clinically relevant in humans.

Here's the simple version: some medications, including aripiprazole (the active drug in your Aristada injection), can make your skin a little more sensitive to sunlight, so you may sunburn more easily. Alfalfa, especially in concentrated supplement doses, has been suggested in animal studies to do something similar, possibly because of a green pigment called chlorophyll. Put them together and, in theory, those sun-sensitizing effects could add up.

I want to be honest with you though: this is a theoretical concern based on lab and animal data, not solid human proof, and we don't know if it really matters in people. The food amount of alfalfa in a sandwich is unlikely to be an issue. If you do use alfalfa supplements, just be smart about sunscreen and shade, and run it past your pharmacist or doctor first.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
