American hellebore, also known as Veratrum viride, contains alkaloids that can potentially prolong the QT interval on an electrocardiogram (ECG). Here's the concern with pairing Vanflyta (quizartinib) with American hellebore. Quizartinib is a leukemia medicine that already carries a well-known warning for prolonging the QT interval, meaning it can affect the heart's electrical rhythm. In fact, it comes with a special monitoring program because of this exact risk.

American hellebore contains alkaloids that can also stretch out the QT interval. Stack those two effects together and you raise the chance of a dangerous rhythm called torsades de pointes, which can cause fainting, a racing or irregular heartbeat, or worse. This isn't a prodrug situation, both simply push the heart in the same risky direction. On top of that, hellebore is genuinely poisonous and not a safe supplement. Please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before going anywhere near it.
