Here's the short version: temazepam already slows your brain down to help you sleep, and bay leaf may, in theory, do a little of the same. Bay leaf contains a compound called methyl eugenol that acted as a mild sedative in animal studies. So stacking the two could, in principle, deepen temazepam's effects, leaving you groggier than expected, more drowsy the next morning, dizzy, or unsteady on your feet.

I want to be honest, though: this is a theoretical concern based on lab and animal work, not real-world cases. The pinch of bay leaf in your soup is not the issue. Concentrated bay leaf supplements or essential oils are where I'd pause. If you use those, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
