Here's the gist with Cetirizine (Zyrtec) and bay leaf. Cetirizine is an antihistamine that, while less drowsy than older allergy meds, can still make some people feel sleepy or foggy. Bay leaf contains a compound called methyl eugenol that, in animal studies, showed mild sedative-like effects. So the theory is that pairing the two might add up to a little extra drowsiness.

I want to be honest: this is a theoretical concern, and the seasoning amount in your soup or stew is very unlikely to matter at all. The possible worry is only with concentrated bay leaf supplements or essential oils taken in large amounts. If you use those, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor first, and notice whether you feel unusually sleepy.

What Is Cetirizine Injection Used For?

Brand names: Cetirizine, Zyrtec, Quzyttir

Quzyttir (cetirizine injection) is approved to treat acute urticaria — a sudden outbreak of hives — in adults and in children 6 months of age and older. It is given by intravenous (IV) injection in a medically supervised setting.

Quzyttir is not recommended for children under 6 years of age who have impaired kidney or liver function.
