Janumet combines two diabetes medicines, metformin and sitagliptin, that work together to lower your blood sugar. Bergamot supplements (the standardized extract people take for cholesterol) may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of their own. So the concern here is simple: stacking the two could push your numbers down a little too far.

I'll be honest with you, this is mostly a theoretical caution. It comes from animal studies, not solid human trials, so it's not something to panic over. Still, it's worth watching for signs of low blood sugar, like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling suddenly hungry. If you'd like to try bergamot, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can help you keep an eye on your readings.
