Crizotinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) interacts with.

Theoretically, BMPEA might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA inhibits CYP3A4 by up to 37%.

Here's the basic idea with these two together. Your body clears crizotinib (Xalkori) using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab testing suggests BMPEA can slow that same enzyme down by roughly a third. If crizotinib is cleared more slowly, more of it can build up in your blood, which could mean stronger effects and a higher chance of side effects like nausea, vision changes, swelling, fatigue, or heart rhythm changes (QT prolongation).

I'll be honest, this is a theoretical concern based only on test-tube data, not on real patients, so the actual risk in people isn't well known. Still, BMPEA is a hidden, unapproved stimulant with its own heart risks, so I'd steer clear of it entirely while on cancer treatment. Please run any supplement past your oncologist or pharmacist first.

What Is Crizotinib Used For?

Brand name: Xalkori

Xalkori (crizotinib) is used to treat adult patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors test positive for the ALK or ROS1 gene abnormality, as confirmed by an FDA-approved test.

Xalkori is also used to treat pediatric patients aged 1 year and older and young adults with relapsed or refractory systemic ALK-positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL). Additionally, it treats adult and pediatric patients aged 1 year and older with unresectable, recurrent, or refractory ALK-positive inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT). Note: Xalkori's safety and effectiveness in older adults with relapsed or refractory ALK-positive ALCL have not been established.
