Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) and Vancomycin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Vancomycin and Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Vancomycin

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Vancomycin is filed under 2 classifications — antibiotic drugs, oral drugs. Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being cytochrome p450 2d6 (cyp2d6) substrates (moderate), cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) substrates (moderate) and stimulant drugs (moderate) — and none of Vancomycin’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

What Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Vancomycin. It is the side-effect record for Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea), this list is the first place to look. 2 entries are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

“Hemorrhagic stroke was reported in a healthy 53-year-old female who took a specific supplement (Jacked Power, MM sports) 30 minutes prior to exercise. It was not labeled as containing BMPEA, but testing showed a level of 290 mg per dose.”

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Vancomycin’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Vancomycin column appears here.

About Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea)

What is Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea)?

  • Weight loss
  • Pre-workout energy
  • Athletic performance
  • Appetite suppression
  • Mental focus

Beta-methylphenethylamine (BMPEA) is a synthetic stimulant chemically similar to amphetamine that has been found in some weight-loss and sports supplements, often without being clearly listed on the label. It is not an approved or well-studied dietary ingredient, and regulators have warned that it may carry real cardiovascular risks. Because of safety concerns and the lack of human research, it is best avoided.

Synthetic chemical; also reported as a constituent of some Acacia species · Capsules, tablets, and powders sold as pre-workout, weight-loss, or 'energy' supplements

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) record says about it on its own.

Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea): dosing

There is no established or recommended dose for BMPEA, and no safe dose has been determined through research. It is not an approved ingredient, so any amount in a supplement is unregulated and may not match what the label says.We do not recommend taking BMPEA.

About Vancomycin

What Is Vancomycin Used For?

Brand names: Vancocin, Vancoled

Vancomycin is used to fight serious bacterial infections caused by certain hard-to-treat bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). When given intravenously (by IV), it treats conditions like septicemia (a serious bloodstream infection), infective endocarditis (infection of the heart valves), skin and skin structure infections, bone infections, and lower respiratory tract infections.

When taken by mouth — as capsules or oral solution (brands include Vancocin and Firvanq) — vancomycin treats Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea (C. diff) and staphylococcal enterocolitis (a gut infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus). It's important to know that the oral form does not work for bloodstream or other serious infections, and the IV form does not work for C. diff or gut infections — each route has its own specific uses.

Most-Reported Side Effects for Vancomycin

From FAERS, the FDA’s public side-effect reporting system (65,520 reports, all brands). Reports are voluntary and are not proof the drug caused the effect.

Acute kidney injury 4,892 reports
Fever 4,046 reports
Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms 2,695 reports
