Theoretically, bitter almond oil may have additive effects with other CNS depressants.
Bitter almond and its oil contain amygdalin, which is hydrolyzed to toxic hydrocyanic acid. This can cause CNS depression and respiratory failure.

Here's the short version: Clobazam (Onfi, Sympazan) already slows down the central nervous system to calm seizure activity. Common effects include drowsiness, sluggishness, and at higher levels, slowed breathing. Bitter almond contains amygdalin, which the body can turn into cyanide, a poison that can also depress the nervous system and breathing. So in theory, the two together could pile on, leaving you more sedated than expected.

I'll be honest, this concern is theoretical, based on how these chemicals behave rather than real reports in people. Clobazam isn't a prodrug here, so this isn't about your body clearing the drug faster or slower. The bigger issue is that bitter almond is genuinely toxic and shouldn't be eaten at all. Stick with ordinary sweet almonds, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding anything new.

Clobazam is used as an add-on (adjunctive) treatment for seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS), a severe form of childhood-onset epilepsy. It is approved for patients 2 years of age and older.

This indication applies to all available forms: Sympazan (dissolving oral film), Onfi (tablets and oral suspension), and generic clobazam tablets and oral suspension.
