Ranitidine Bismuth Citrate falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Blond Psyllium interacts with.

Theoretically, psyllium might increase, decrease, or have no effect on the absorption of oral drugs.
Psyllium seems to have variable effects on drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take psyllium 30-60 minutes after oral medications. Animal research shows that blond psyllium delays and increases the absorption of metformin and ethinyl estradiol. Conversely, case reports and animal research suggest that blond psyllium might reduce absorption of lithium, digoxin, olanzapine, and carbamazepine. Finally, some pharmacokinetic studies show that psyllium does not affect the absorption of levothyroxine or warfarin.

Here's the gist with these two: that thick gel psyllium forms in your stomach can grab onto pills sitting nearby and slow or slightly reduce how much of your ranitidine bismuth citrate gets absorbed. If less of it soaks in, you may simply get a bit less heartburn or ulcer relief than you expect. This isn't a dangerous combo, and the evidence here is pretty soft (mostly theoretical, with mixed results across different drugs).

The easy fix is timing. Take your ranitidine first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before your psyllium, and drink plenty of water with the fiber. If your stomach symptoms aren't well controlled, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Blond psyllium is a soluble fiber from the seed husks of Plantago ovata, and it is one of the better-studied fiber supplements. It can help with both constipation and diarrhea and may modestly lower cholesterol and blood sugar. It is generally well tolerated when taken with plenty of water, but always start low and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Ranitidine Used For?

Brand name: Tritec

Ranitidine treats a range of stomach acid–related conditions. Prescription-strength ranitidine (capsules, tablets, and oral solution) is used for active duodenal ulcers (ulcers in the small intestine), active benign gastric ulcers (stomach ulcers), GERD (acid reflux disease), erosive esophagitis (acid damage to the esophagus), and pathological hypersecretory conditions — rare disorders where the stomach makes far too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also used as maintenance therapy to keep duodenal and gastric ulcers from coming back after they have healed.

Over-the-counter products — including Acid Reducer and Acid Reducer 150 tablets — are approved to relieve heartburn associated with acid indigestion and sour stomach, and to prevent that heartburn when taken before eating or drinking foods that trigger it.
