Amiloride, Hydrochlorothiazide falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Bridelia interacts with.

Animal research suggests that Bridelia extracts decrease arterial pressure. Theoretically, concomitant use of Bridelia with antihypertensive drugs might have additive blood pressure lowering effects.
Some antihypertensive drugs include nifedipine (Adalat, Procardia), verapamil (Calan, Isoptin, Verelan), diltiazem (Cardizem), isradipine (DynaCirc), felodipine (Plendil), amlodipine (Norvasc), and others.

Here's the simple version: your combo pill (amiloride plus hydrochlorothiazide) already works to bring your blood pressure down. In animal studies, Bridelia also seemed to lower blood pressure on its own. So if you took both together, the worry is that their effects could stack up and push your pressure a little too low.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, or wobbly when standing up, especially since the water pill side of this medicine can already leave you a bit dehydrated. I want to be honest, though: this is a theoretical concern based on lab and animal work, not solid human studies. Please don't change anything on your own. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Bridelia.

About Amiloride and Hydrochlorothiazide

What Is Amiloride and Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?

Brand names: Moduretic, Amilzide, Moduret 25, Amil-Co

Amiloride hydrochloride and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used for patients with high blood pressure (hypertension) or congestive heart failure who tend to develop low potassium (hypokalemia) when taking a thiazide or other diuretic alone — or for whom keeping potassium levels in a normal range is especially important, such as people taking digoxin or those with significant heart rhythm problems.

The tablets may be used on their own or alongside other blood pressure medicines, such as methyldopa or beta blockers. This combination product is not intended as the first-choice treatment for swelling (edema) or high blood pressure unless low potassium is a specific concern.
