ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Amlodipine Benzoate
Amlodipine Benzoate falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Bridelia interacts with.
Some antihypertensive drugs include nifedipine (Adalat, Procardia), verapamil (Calan, Isoptin, Verelan), diltiazem (Cardizem), isradipine (DynaCirc), felodipine (Plendil), amlodipine (Norvasc), and others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: amlodipine (Katerzia) already works to relax your blood vessels and bring your blood pressure down. Animal studies hint that Bridelia may also nudge blood pressure lower. So if you pair the two, the worry is they could stack on top of each other and drop your pressure more than you want.
If that happened, you might feel dizzy or lightheaded, especially when standing up quickly, along with tiredness, headache, or swelling in your ankles that amlodipine can already cause. To be honest, this is a theoretical concern based mostly on lab and animal work, not proven in people, so I wouldn't panic. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Bridelia, and keep an eye on your blood pressure readings.

About Amlodipine
What Is Amlodipine Used For?
Brand name: Katerzia
Amlodipine lowers high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. It can be used alone or with other blood pressure or angina medicines.
It is also used for chronic stable angina, vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal's or variant angina), and angiographically documented coronary artery disease in patients without heart failure or an ejection fraction below 40%. The Sdamlo oral solution label lists the high blood pressure use for adults and children 6 years and older, and the coronary artery disease uses for adults.
