Umbralisib Tosylate falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Camphor interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of camphor with other hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of liver damage.
There have been a few case reports of transient elevations in liver enzymes in adults after oral or topical use of camphor. There has also been one case of hepatotoxicity in an infant after topical camphor use.

Here's the thing about Ukoniq (umbralisib): it's already known to be tough on the liver, and your care team likely checks your liver enzymes with blood tests while you're on it. Camphor, mostly found in those rub-on muscle and chest products, has been tied in a handful of reports to short-lived bumps in liver enzymes. The worry is that stacking two things that can stress the liver might add up.

I'll be honest, this concern is theoretical, based on how each one behaves rather than proven cases together. Used on the skin in normal amounts, camphor is unlikely to cause trouble, and it should never be swallowed regardless. Still, since liver health really matters with umbralisib, mention any camphor products to your pharmacist or oncologist before using them.

What Is Umbralisib Used For?

Brand name: Ukoniq

  • Umbralisib is used to treat marginal zone lymphoma (MZL; a slow growing cancer that begins in a type of white blood cells that normally fight infection) in adults whose cancer has returned or did not respond to a certain type of medication. It is also used to treat follicular lymphoma (FL; a type of cancer that begins in the white blood cells) in adults whose cancer has returned or did not respond to at least three other medications. Umbralisib is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps stop the spread of cancer cells.
